Life After Death
Life after Death
There are a lot of unsolved mysteries in life. There are those who think it's for the best that things are this way and those who believe that answers do exist but that people either ignore them or look at them from different angles. The existence of an afterlife is one such question. After death, does one truly enter an everlasting life? Is it possible that it was all a fabrication to numb the pain of our imminent demise? Or do we only lie in our tombs, extinguished and forever lost in nothingness? Because there is no universally accepted fact, I am left with a lot of open-ended questions. I used to think that science and coincidence were the only possible causes of life. During that time, I held the belief that neither heaven nor hell nor any supreme entity existed. I used to think that God doesn't exist; I thought that the belief in God, just like the Greek gods in ancient times, would eventually fade away and become mythical. The idea of an afterlife and divine intervention was something I used to think was merely a comfort blanket passed down through the ages. Going to what they call "hell" was the one thing that made me change for the better. My behaviors become more apparent to me. Every time I do anything now, I think of other people. I began to be more considerate of others. I began to sin more seldom. In the event that there is, in fact, life after death, where will I go? Will I go with the goodie-goodies who are clad in white, with wings, and with halos? Neither a nice guy nor a horrible guy is what I am. When it comes to this life, I very much don't have any ideas. Maybe the only thing to do is to enjoy life to the utmost, seeking out the things that make you happy, doing what makes you feel true, and being honest and nice to everyone you meet. Perhaps what matters most is not finding answers to the mysteries of life but rather taking solace in the knowledge that we gave it our all and were genuine in all that we did. In the words of Carl Jung, "It is impossible to know anything about what happens after death, but the whole of life prepares for the ultimate goal."
